The nine persons indicted by the Justice Elizabeth Kpojime-led Commission of Enquiry for looting Benue State treasury have been arrested.
They were detained at the police headquarters, Makurdi, and later taken to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Fifty-two persons and 10 corporate organisations were accused of looting the treasury during the last administration.
Those arrested include ex-Special Adviser to former Governor Gabriel Suswam, Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Solomon Wombo; ex-Permanent Secretary, Mr Asen Sambe; and the accountant Mr. Isaiah Ipevnor.
Others are Janet Aluga; Moses Detso; Peter Ochoga; James Gera; Aorga Emmanuel; and ex-legal adviser to Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC); as well as Mr. John Tyokegh.
Commissioner of Police Bashir Makama confirmed the arrest, and hailed officers from Force Headquarters in Abuja, for their efforts.
Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Michael Gusa, who also confirmed the arrests, said the Governor Ortom administration would recover looted funds.
He assured the people that the recovered money would be channelled towards development projects, offsetting salary arrears and other entitlements owed workers and pensioners.
