A woman was rushed to a hospital after being stabbed by her own dog, police in Colorado said.
Hudson police said that they were called to the hospital to investigate the stabbing after doctors feared that the woman was a victim of domestic violence.
According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Wednesday, when the 1-year-old dog Maya, found a freshly sharpened knife in the kitchen.
When the dogโs owner, Celinda Haynes, saw that it was running around the house with a knife in its mouth, she tried to offer her pet a doggy treat.
However, the dog refused to drop knife, and instead, wiggled its head and stabbed Haynesโ hand. She was left with a large gash on her hand, and went to the Platte Valley Medical center.
Doctors treated the wound and called the police, fearing that the woman was a victim of domestic violence. Police feared that the woman was covering for her husband and making up the story about being stabbed by her dog.
Luckily, her husband was at the DMV at the time of the incident, leaving no other suspect but the dog. Police listed the incident as suspicious.
