Police launched an investigation after hundreds of marijuana plants were found growing in the yard of a day care facility, according to police in Connecticut.
West Haven police said that they got a call about suspicious activity at the day care center located at 159 Norfolk Street.
The day care is registered under Rosalee Miller. On Friday, police entered the yard, where they found 600 marijuana plants worth about $1 million.
State inspectors called the police when they were denied access behind a tall wooden fence in the yard. The 600 plants were around 8 feet tall each.
The city inspectors shut down the facility and the child care license was suspended. Police are looking to charge those responsible for the marijuana plants with child endangerment among other offenses.
