Police in Australia, launched an investigation after a teenager made a U-turn to avoid a police breathalyzer test site before crashing car, killing himself and his daughter.

Tasmanian police said that 19-year-old Alex Peart and 2-year-old Ruby Rose Peart, died in a single car crash on Thursday around 9:00 p.m.

Luckily, Xanna Rose Weavell, who was the mother of Ruby Rose and partner of Alex, suffered only minor injuries. According to the police investigation, Alex was driving on the Tasman Highway Midway Point, approaching Penna Road.

When he noticed that police set up a random breathalyzer test site, Alex made a U-turn and sped away. While overtaking other vehicles, Alex lost control of his car and crashed into a pole, causing the vehicle to break in two.

Alex and Weavell were thrown from the vehicle. Alex and Ruby Rose were declared dead at the scene. Weavell was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
