Two sisters who are very close with each other became widows at the same time, when their husbands, who were good friends, drowned.

The two families of Iowa, were on vacation in Missouri, near the Lake of the Ozarks, when they spotted their new Manitou pontoon boat drifting away from the dock, Sgt. Scott White, a spokesperson for the Missouri State Highway Patrol, said.

It was about 8:10 a.m. when 40-year-old Jacob B. Seeman, jumped into the water to stop the boat from floating away.

However, Seeman, who has a history of back spasms, struggled in the water. When his brother-in-law, Dennis J. Michel, 46, saw him struggling, he went to help.

Sadly, both men went underwater and never resurfaced. Their family, who watched the entire incident, called police. The two bodies were found at 10:30 a.m.

The families are devastated over their double loss.

Seeman worked on the family farm while Michel worked for the post office. Their wives own preschools in Ankeny, Iowa.
