Reality star Rob Kardashian appears to be making strides toward an improved bill of health.
The 28-year-old TV personality is now telling family members he is no longer suffering from Type 2 diabetes, and his doctor says he no longer needs to take medication for the disease, TMZ reports.
Kardashian, who was diagnosed with the condition in December, has reportedly focused on working out and eating healthful foods since he began his relationship with Blac Chyna at the beginning of the year.
Doctors have cautioned him, however, the diabetes could return if he goes back to his old unhealthy habits.
“I was doing my suit fittings in Paris right before the wedding and I just wasn’t comfortable,” Kardashian told People. “I’m 6’1″ and at my most I probably weighed 300 lbs.”
“There were cameras at the airport on our trip there and I was very unhappy with the person I saw in all the pictures,” he continued. “I’m upset I missed my sister’s wedding but it was a personal decision.”
Kardashian went on to disappear from the public eye even further after the wedding, only to reemerge back into the spotlight earlier this year.
He now says he’s doing much better, though he hasn’t forgotten about all the holidays, vacations and family events that he missed out on during his nearly two years away from the cameras.
“I wasn’t happy with myself so I didn’t want my family to see me that way,” he told the magazine.
He now promises he’ll never return to his past secluded ways. The 28-year-old recently returned to his famous family’s popular reality show “Keeping Up with The Kardashians,” and he’s set to appear own his own new E! Network program “Rob & Blac” with his fiancรฉe Blac Chyna next month.
It’s been a whirlwind year for Kardashian, who began dating Chyna in January before proposing three months later. They then announced she was pregnant in the ensuing weeks.
And even though Kardashian admits he still has goals he hopes to achieve, he’s in a good place.
“There were definitely dark days for me, and I’m still not fully happy looking at myself in the mirror,” he revealed. “But I’m working towards that. And I’m happy.”
