An expectant mum hoping for a quick delivery was stunned when she gave birth in less than a minute in the hospital doorway while her husband parked the car.
Jessica Stubbins, from Scunthorpe in the UK, didnโt even make it to the foyer before baby Lucy arrived in the early hours of Sunday morning, The Sun reports.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain with Lucy, husband Tom Stubbins and two-year-old daughter Penny, Mrs Stubbins recalled how she told her hubby to drop her off at the door as sheโd felt a telling twinge.
โI tried to close the door really quick and as I got out, I knew she was on her way,โ she explained.
Mr Stubbins was only 30 metres away, yet missed the moment his wife gave birth to their second child.
โShe was coming, there was no stopping her,โ Mrs Stubbins said.
Mr Stubbins told how when he arrived at the hospital entrance, Mrs Stubbins informed him theyโd had a little girl.
โShe felt really guilty because I missed it, and I was just in absolute shock, I didnโt know what was happening!โ he said.
Mrs Stubbins explained she had already been to Scunthorpe General Hospital earlier in the day as she felt her labour was underway, but ended up going back home thinking it was a false alarm.
But after having a bath, she realised around midnight that Lucy was on her way.
One of the nurses that came to Jessicaโs rescue, Gemma Hoeft, told how she was on her break and heading to her car to get her food when she heard a scream.
โInitially I thought it was a labour room window open and thought someone was just very loud,โ she said
โBut then I heard footsteps, and I turned around and saw Tom running, so I looked in the entrance and could see Jessica stooped over.
As Mrs Stubbins untangled Lucy from her umbilical cord herself, Ms Hoeft took off her jacket and wrapped the infant up before telling Mr Stubbins to get his wife and their new baby a seat.
Midwife Sally Parkin and her colleague then arrived on the scene with warm towels and a wheelchair to take care of Mrs Stubbins.
She explained: โWe met a burly security guard with a huge smile on his face and the whole environment was very calm.
โJessica was just so calm and relaxed, and Tom was crying and Jessica was saying, โIโm sorry, Iโm sorryโ while he was telling her it didnโt matter. It was just a lovely experience, she did so well.โ
While her adorable daughter Penny kissed her new sister, Mrs Stubbins thanked the nurses for their help.
โIt was so amazing, you looking after me like you did. It felt like it was more than just a job, it felt really personal,โ she said.
Presenter Kate Garraway joked: โAs she grows up, if sheโs ever you can always say to her, โYouโve got no excuse!โโ, while Ben Shepherd added: โI hope you got the money back on the parking ticket.โ
