Mike Tyson committed an ice-cold unforced error at the US Open — swiping a Ben & Jerry’s bar without paying for it.
A stadium concession worker said she thought better about confronting the “baddest man on the planet” Monday after he walked away with the $5.50 frozen treat.
“I was like, ‘Yeah, what do you want me to do? Run after him?’” Says the worker “It was Tyson. I recognized him. I didn’t want to say nothing to him because he might bite my ear.”
But the worker summoned all her courage when Tyson later wandered past the stand at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens.
“I said, ‘Really, Mike? Really? You took my ice cream,'” the worker said. “He said, ‘Yeah, I know, I stole your ice cream.”
But there were no hard feelings a day later. A member of Tyson’s camp showed up at the stand Tuesday and paid for the bar.
Tyson’s spokeswoman Jo Mignano said it was all just a big misunderstanding.
“Mike got the ice cream and was going to have the host pay for it as he was running around with his family,” Mignano said in a statement.
“He was being pulled in a lot of directions as his daughter, Milan, is a rising tennis star and huge fan of the sport. He donated to the USTA scholarship fund. His host, David Slade (USTA National Manager), got the money from Mike and has made sure the bill has been taken care of.”
