Manchester United legend Denis Law is recovering at home after collapsing on board an aeroplane and subsequently being rushed to hospital.

The 76-year-old, who also had two spells at Manchester City, was bound for Menorca from Manchester Airport with his wife but had to be taken to a local hospital after fainting before take-off.

Following a series of tests the former Scotland international was allowed to return home and later explained to The Sun: โ€œI went white and did not feel well at all. The next thing I collapsed in my seat.

โ€œI feel better now but Iโ€™m having tests as itโ€™s happened before a few times in the past few years.โ€

It is believed the episode came as a result of a condition related to the cranial nerve.

Law spent 11 years at Old Trafford between 1962 and 1973, scoring 237 times for United as part of the famed โ€˜Holy Trinityโ€™ alongside George Best and Bobby Charlton.

He then returned to City, with whom he had spent one season in 1960-61, scoring a famous back-heeled goal on his return to Old Trafford as United were relegated from Division One.

In 2003 Law battled with prostate cancer before being given the all-clear by specialists.
