A representative of INDECLINE, the group behind the grotesque, sparsely endowed nude Trump statues that appeared in five major cities Thursday said that Trump is a “monster relentlessly stalking America in a nightmare we can’t seem to wake up from.”
Speaking to Gothamist in an interview published Friday, the representative described how they settled on the locations, how they managed to erect them in public places without anyone stopping them, and what their goals and intentions were.
Asked if they thought it would be “fair” for Trump supporters to distribute similarly unflattering statues of Hillary Clinton, the rep responded, “INDECLINE thinks it would be fair for Trump supporters to go pick up a copy of Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States and learn a little something about America before they cast as vote for someone hell-bent on destroying it.”
“INDECLINE will just sit back and wait for America to do something disgraceful, then go paint a mural or make a film. That’s typically how we roll. Should be about a week before you hear from us again. Unfortunately, it’s been that kind of year,” the rep said.
The NYC Parks Department issued a statement Thursday regarding the statues: “NYC Parks stands firmly against any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small.”
