The parents of five children were arrested on a charge of child neglect after they were found living in a house full of garbage and cat urine, according to police in Ohio.

The Franklin Police Department said that they arrested the parents, Tammi and Michael Bethel, after officers found their 7-year-old son trying to sell a teddy bear because he was hungry and wanted to use the cash to buy food.

Both parents were charged with 10 counts of child endangerment.

In court, the parents have been ordered to have no contact with their children, and the kids were handed over to family members.

According to the criminal complaint, Officer Steve Dunham saw the 7-year-old boy wandering on a busy street, all by himself.

Dunham said that the boy was trying to sell his stuffed animal to get money for food because he had not eaten in several days.

Dunham bought the boy some food at Subway, and took him to the police station.

Police then went to the boyโ€™s home, where they discovered that he lived with his four siblings in a house full of garbage, cat urine and liquor bottles.
