Protesters at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland Ohio, are
lucky to be alive thanks to quick action by police officers who sprayed
them with a fire extinguisher.
Gregory Lee “Joey” Johnson lit the American flag on fire before his pants started burning.
As the police were spraying him with a fire extinguisher, he moved away
from them in order to prevent them from putting out the burning flag.
In the process, two other protesters were set on fire.
Police officers used the fire extinguisher to put out all the flames
before anyone was seriously hurt. 18 people were arrested near the
corner of East 4th Street and Prospect Avenue.
Several protesters were charged with assault on a police officer while the others were charged with failure to disperse.
A Cleveland police supervisor and an Ohio State Trooper were pushed and punched during the protest and suffered minor injuries.
