With tension growing against police officers in many cities, officers in New Mexico, went out to connect with residents.
Police officers of the Albuquerque Police Department, volunteered to get
pies thrown in their faces on Friday, to raise money for a good cause.
APD agreed to participate in a fundraiser for Mothers Against Drunk
Driving (MADD). They raised money by having people throw pies in the
faces of police officers.
The event was organized by a family after their son, 19-year-old Jacob
Salazar, was killed. Salazar was killed six months ago, when a drunk
driver crashed into him.
Salazarโs mother said that the MADD organization reached out to her and
helped her during her difficult time of losing her son. She wanted to
give back by raising money for the organization.
People paid $10 to throw and smear a pie onto the face of an officer at
Friday’s event, which raised about $300. Police officers agreed to
participate in another such event, which will be held next week.
