No fewer than 10 persons were reportedly killed in clashes ‎between
suspected Fulani herdsmen and farmers in two communities in Niger State.
The ‎clashes happened between July 7 – 8 , at Bokuta village, Bosso LGA
and Tungan Malam village in Paikoro LGA. In the first community, some
herdsmen reportedly invaded a farm with their cattle and destroyed a lot
of crops.

The farmer engaged the herdsmen in a fight during which one of the
invaders was killed while another one was injured. The following day,
herdsmen went on a reprisal and shot five farmers dead.‎ This led to a
serious scuffle which warranted the intervention of security operatives.
In the Tungan Malam clash, a youth allegeldy led cattle into a large
farmland, destroyed the crops. When the owners of the farm complained,
the youth and other herders struck and killed one of the farmers. The
farmers however regrouped and went on a reprisal, killing at least three
herdsmen.
NEMA officials in Minna along with other key stake holders paid a visit
to Bokuta village. Women and children in the village fled and are camped
in Bosso primary school, while the men along with security officers
stood guard over their crops in the village.
