A man was arrested on a charge of battery after allegedly groping girls
inside the Disney wave pool, according to police in Florida.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said that they have arrested
27-year-old Aman Bhatia of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, after being accused
of molesting at least six girls who were having fun at Disney.
Bhatia was charged with two counts of battery, and four counts of lewd
and lascivious molestation. He was booked into the Orange County Jail,
and was released after posting bail.
According to the police investigation, Bhatia and the girls were in the
wave pool on Sunday, when the assault took place. One victim told the
police that when the waves rushed into her, she felt the suspect’s hands
all over her body.
Another victim said that when she was in the wave pool, Bhatia grabbed
her waist from behind. She was able to break free of his grasp, but he
grabbed her again.
Four other girls reported similar incidents. Bhatia pinched another girl
and left a red mark on her skin. The victims were between 12 and 15
years old.
Bhatia denied the allegations, saying that his glasses broke and could
not see clearly, causing him to accidentally touch the girls.
Bhatia also said that everyone was bumping into each other and having fun. Disney banned Bhatia from their parks for life.
