A babysitter who was trusted with two young girls, harmed them in the worst way.
22-year-old Brittney Mae Lyon of Escondido, California, is accused of
taking the girls to her boyfriend so that he can molest them.
Police said that the incident came to light after one of the little
girls, who are not related, told her mother about the abuse.
Lyon drove the children to another town, where her boyfriend, Samuel
Cabrera Jr., 22, of Carlsbad, lives in an upscale home with his aunt and
uncle.
There, he molested the girls while Lyon watched and recorded him doing so, police said.
Police said that the sick crimes against the children could have started
two years ago, and they strongly believe that there may be other
victims.
Prosecutors said that Lyon has a degree in child development, and she
worked for the YMCA. She used her experience to convince parents to let
her take their young girls with her for the day.
She claimed that she was going to study them as part of her school
project on child behavior, but instead, she took the children to her
boyfriend.
Investigators discovered “a ton of recorded material including
computers, hard drives, video sticks and GoPro cameras,” said Carlsbad
police Lieutenant Marc Reno.
Vista Superior Court Judge James Mangione ordered the pair to be held on
$2.6 million bail each as they are “a substantial risk to public
safety.”
They are facing 90 years in prison.
