A man was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly shooting and
killing his wife because she had suffered enough, according to police in
the United Kingdom.
Essex police said that they have arrested 87-year-old Ronald King, after
being accused of using his father’s World War II service weapon to kill
his wife, 81-year-old Rita King.
Ronald was charged with one count of murder. According to the police
investigation, the incident unfolded at the De La Mer House senior
citizens center.
Ronald used a bullet dating back to 1943, to shout his wife in the head.
When he left the living room of his apartment, he told staff members of
the senior citizen center that he just shot his wife because she had
suffered enough.
Rita suffered of dementia, and was not capable of making a decision to
commit suicide. At the time of her death, Rita could make simple choices
about eating and drinking, but could not have made big decisions.
The court heard that before the murder, the Ronald and Rita were very devoted to each other.
