A pastor was found dead inside a storage unit in an apparent suicide, police said.
Pastor David James Brown, 46, of Indiana, was arrested after being
accused of traveling from Jeffersonville to Frankfort, to try to have
sex with a minor.
According to the state attorneyโs office, Brown contacted a person he
thought was a minor through the messaging application Kik.
However, he was actually in correspondence with an undercover officer of the Attorney General Andy Beshearโs cyber crimes unit.
When the pastor arrived at the predetermined location to meet the child for sex, he was arrested by police.
He was charged with one count of prohibited use of an electronic
communication system for the purpose of procuring a minor for a sex
offense.
Brown was released from the Franklin County jail on $10,000 bond.
Brown was the senior pastor at First Christian Church. He was placed on administrative leave after the arrest.
Two weeks after his arrest, the pastorโs body was found body in a Attic
Self Storage in Marietta, Georgia, Sgt. Dana Pierce of the Cobb County
Police Department said.
The case is being investigated as a suicide, Pierce said. The body was
taken to the medical examiner’s office of Cobb County for an autopsy.
