A man who had been arrested 49 times, faces a long prison term after killing his wife while driving recklessly.
31-year-old Christen Nichole Young was known to many people as “Nicki” Carr of Calera, Alabama. She died in a hit and run.
Police arrested her husband, 36-year-old Kenneth Young, after evidence pointed to him being responsible for her death.
Police said that Young, hit his wife outside their home while driving recklessly. He then drove off and left her to die.
The couple has two children together.
Young had been arrested and charged 49 times since September 1998. The
charges include four counts of domestic violence, smuggling contraband
into jail and reckless endangerment.
Young was charged with murder and leaving the scene of an accident with death, Shelby County Sheriff John Samaniego said.
He is being held on $1 million bail. The couple’s two children were placed in the custody of Nicky’s mother.
