Four men have been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command on Thursday for allegedly robbing a pastor and raping his daughter during the operation.
The men were among the 33 suspected criminals paraded by the state police.
The robbers identified as Ayodele Ademola, Afolabi Oluwatobi, Morakinyo Olufemi and Azeez Rafiu were arrested one after the other at different locations after which the items they stole were recovered from them.
The suspected rapists were said to have invaded the pastorโs house at Sanyo area of Ibadan, the state capital, at about 11:45 pm on July 21. They scaled the victimโs fence and forced him to open the door. While three of them entered the house, the fourth member stayed back to monitor the compound.
After the armed men had successfully taken the pastorโs possessions, the leader of the gang raped one of his daughters.
The thieves took away the familyโs valuables which included a Sony laptop, two iPads, a Toyota Corolla, a Mercedez Benz, and the sum of N200,000.
The gang leader, 55-year-old Ayodele Ademola confessed to the crime saying he did not know why he raped the girl, agreeing that he was probably under a curse.
โWe went to rob a pastor. We took the car and other items. Then, I raped his daughter. I donโt know why. I think they have cursed me.โ
According to reports , the robbery suspect said hardship led him into robbery, recalling that he performed his first robbery operation in Kogi State last September.
โI wonโt steal again if I am pardoned,โ he said, pleading with the police.
Ademola also disclosed that he has two daughters.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sam Okaula, who paraded them, said the suspects would soon be charged to court.
