Further investigations have revealed that 40-year-old Patrick Sawyer was a citizen of the United States of America
According to recent reports, the Liberian man who came into Lagos, Nigeria with Ebola was actually an American.
Patrick Sawyer was due to return home to his wife and 3 daughters in the state of Minnesota after attending a conference in Lagos. Unfortunately this did not happen as he collapsed and was hospitalized after which he gave up the ghost on July 25.
Patrick was and his wife, Decontee is a naturalized citizen of America but their daughters, 5-year-old Eva, 4-year-old Mia, and Bella, 1 were born there.
Mrs. Sawyer told CNN:
“He was so proud when he became a U.S. citizen,”. “He voted for first time in the last U.S. presidential election. He lived in the U.S. for many years, and wanted that for Liberia — a better democracy.”
“People weren’t really taking it [Ebola] seriously until it hit Patrick,” Decontee said. “People are ready to take action.”
Before his death, Patrick was working as a senior official with the Liberian Ministry of Finance and he is believed to have contracted the disease from his sister.
