Former militants of Ijaw extraction under the aegis of Meinbutu, have called for the inclusion of Toru-Ebe and Oil River states in the proposed states approved by the national conference.
The Meinbutus, in a statement by Ebis Moni, King Jerry Prebor, Boundle Funpu, Esokowini Akasa, Lawrence Ijokor, Afore Theodore, and Poweide Egbele, also demanded for a minimum of 50 percent derivation for the oil producing communities.
Saying that the country should not take the simplicity of the Ijaws for granted, they urged the confab committee on state creation to revisit the Ijaw state creation proposal for fairness, equity and justice.
They described the non-inclusion of Toru-Ebe, and Oil River states among the proposed states to be created as discriminatory and โanother imperial colonisation.โ
