Sapara was rushed to the hospital after he was shot in the head when gunmen suspected to be cultists invaded UNILAG
A student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Lagos, who was shot in the head by suspected cultists in a mid-day attack on Monday is stable and recuperating at LUTH.
The student, a final year student at the department of Philosophy, identified in media reports as Sapara, was shot near the King Jaja Hall area of the institution.
Eyewitnesses say the attackers shot at the students from a moving car and a bullet grazed Sapara’s head.
The shooting caused a melee as students fled to safety while the victim bled all over his body.
A student quoted by The Scoop said the attackers sped off in a car after the shooting.
“It was scary. We heard the gunshots from the King Jaja Hall area and everybody just ran for cover.
“Some of us saw a car sped off after the shooting. It was believed that the perpetrators might have carried out the attack from the car,.โ the source said.
According to the UNILAG Dean of Studentsโ Affairs, Prof. Olukayode Amund, Sapara is now recuperating in LUTH following the attack.
He revealed the incidence is being investigated, in collaboration with the police to find out the perpetrators.
Normal activities have since resumed at the institution since the attack.
