A woman had the audacity to move in with her in-laws and live off of
their money after killing her husband who was the breadwinner of her
family.
The woman of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, is accused of stabbing her husband
twice in the chest with a knife before dousing the body with a flammable
liquid and burning his body to hide the crime.
23-year-old Lakela Sweswe allegedly killed her husband Anifa Mlauzi, after a fight in which he accused her of cheating on him.
Sweswe told investigators that she stayed with the body for two days,
before setting it on fire. She then went to live with her in-laws in
Kensington, for about three weeks after the incident.
She did not tell Mlauzi’s parents that he is dead. Instead, she
pretended that he was working out of town as he often left for work for
about three weeks at a time.
Police were called to the couple’s home after a neighbor’s chicken
wandered away, and when they went to retrieve it, they found Mlauzi’s
remains.
Neighbors said that the couple fought whenever Mlauzi came home drunk,
and that he was very jealous and did not want to see his wife near
anyone.
The couple had two children together, one child is two years old and the younger child is just 9 months old.
Police confirmed that they have arrested Sweswe, “who allegedly killed her husband during a domestic dispute.”
Sweswe appeared before Judge Charity Maphosa, on a charge of murder. So far, she was not granted bail.
