McDonald’s announced that its customers will no longer be able to visit
pornography websites while using their branch’s WiFi network.

The world’s largest restaurant chain made the move after an advocacy
group of pressured the company for two years to block porn from its
stores.

McDonald’s is not the only company that restricts pornography in its
stores. The company joined Panera Bread, Subway and Chick-fil-A as a
result of a campaign by the advocacy group Enough Is Enough.

However, Starbucks, the world’s largest coffee chain, does not restrict its WiFi.

Starbucks employees have complained that they sometimes have to tap
customers on the shoulder and urge them to close a pornography website.

“I want to publicly thank McDonald’s for making its WiFi safer for its
patrons,” said Dawn Hawkins, who is the Executive Director of the
National Center on Sexual Exploitation.

“This change came after thousands of concerned citizens signed a
petition asking for #PornFreeWiFi from McDonald’s and Starbucks.

“This was part of a larger campaign conducted by Enough is Enough in
partnership with the National Center on Sexual Exploitation.

“While Starbucks has yet to respond or take action, I commend McDonald’s
for adopting a socially responsible corporate measure that ensures its
customers enjoy a safe, public space free from pornography,” Hawkins
added.
