China has a new public enemy number one after a sickening video went viral yesterday showing a dog tied to the back of an SUV being helplessly dragged to its death along a road in Shandong province.
The shocking video begins by showing the vehicle accelerating as the dog tries to keep up, but fails, and is dragged along the road while the SUV goes faster and faster.
Presumably, this would have continued for some time had the vehicle not been stopped by a huge crowd of angry passersby. Unfortunately, by that time it was too late. The dog’s injuries were too severe and it died on the street a short time later.
Witnesses were understandably furious at the man and surrounded his vehicle. Some in the crowd even dragged the driver out of the SUV and began punching him. Police arrived on the scene quickly to try and mediate the situation and a SWAT team was even dispatched to prevent further violence.
Police have since detained the driver and are investigating the case.
