And in the latest edition of Vogue Australia, for which she is the latest cover girl, Selena Gomez took a swipe at her ex-boyfriend. Speaking to the publication, the 24-year-old pop star revealed that she once struggled to be taken seriously as an artist because her ‘private life was the most talked about thing.’
‘Nobody really knows everything and they can only assume,’ she said, adding: ‘You want to do what you love but all this other stuff overshadows it so it makes it a little harder for people to take me seriously.’
The Can’t Keep My Hands To Myself singer added that she later realised that the scrutiny surrounding her and Bieber, who she was romantically linked to from 2011 to 2015, was only ‘temporary.’
‘I feel like that fortunately and unfortunately it’s where my life is at the moment and I have to accept it,’ she said.
The Daily Telegraph previously reported that Selena also told the magazine that she’s looking for a more ‘low-key’ relationship.
‘The guys that do have the confidence to hit on me are not necessarily my type … I’d be so stoked with a writer or producer or actor who is low-key, but those kind of guys are terrified of me!’ she said.
Selena flew to Australia on Friday for several tour dates and she performed her first show in Melbourne on Saturday.
On the Vogue cover, the Texan beauty, whose parents are of Mexican and Italian descent, sizzles in a colourful midriff-baring look.
While leaning back in an armchair, Selena positioned her lower body to one side, while gazing directly at the camera lens.
During her shoot, the former child star posed on an untidy bed while dressed in a pink and grey long-sleeve gown. The dress highlighted her slim figure while she accessorised with a pair of white heels and off-cream socks.
