A man was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly killing a teenage girl and injuring her friend because he was unhappy about being single, according to police in Texas.
Wichita Falls police said that they have arrested 20-year-old Kody Lott, after being accused of shooting two 13-year-old girls on their way home from school.
Lott was charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a prohibited weapon. He was booked into jail, and his bail was set at $4 million.
According to the police investigation, Lott has been previously diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
On Friday afternoon, 13-year-old Lauren Landavazo and 13-year-old Makayla Smith were walking home from school when they were approached by Lott.
Lott said that he was attracted to Landavazo, and he was unhappy about being single. Lott knew that Landavazo had a boyfriend.
Lott pulled out a gun and shot Landavazo 14 times. Smith was also hit. Landavazo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith was taken to a hospital, where she is being treated. Lott told investigators that he had planned the attack along with the Devil.
