A despicable father was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for killing his daughter.
25-year-old Ryan Lawrence of Syracuse, New York, was reportedly jealous over the attention his young daughter was getting after beating cancer in her eye.
He was allegedly also upset over the medical bills he incurred due to her illness.
Police issued an Amber Alert after Lawrence disappeared with 21-month-old Maddox.
His wife called police when she came home from work and found a note from Lawrence, saying that he was going to harm himself and their baby.
When police finally located Lawrence, he confessed to killing Maddox, burning her body and tying her to cinder blocks before dumping her body in the Onondaga Creek.
The father then led them to his daughter’s body. A judge ruled that his initial confession to killing his daughter will be allowed as evidence during a trial.
However, the case did not go to trial as Lawrence pleaded guilty to murder in the first and in the second degree. In a plea deal with prosecutors, he received 25 years to life in prison instead of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
