An Imam was arrested on a charge of sexual assault after being accused of sexually assaulting young girls inside a mosque, according to police in the United Kingdom.
Now, 58-year-old Hafiz Rahman of Cradley Heath, is facing a prison sentence after being convicted of five counts of sexual assault.
According to the police investigation, Rahman was the Imam at the Queens Cross Mosque, when he abused the two young girls.
One of the girls told police that the Imam sexually abused her as she read texts from the Quran. Rahman was not in court when the jury found him guilty of the sex assaults.
Rahmanโs attorney claimed that his client was too sick to be in court. A judge ordered Rahman to report to prison as soon as he recovers from his illness.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender immediately.
