Promoters of “Fresh PDP” and others with similar inclinations will be made to face sanctions should they continue to create disaffection and disunity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

PDP National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan said such recalcitrant members would be made to face the consequences of their actions in line with the party’s constitution.

Some members  – about six of them – on Wednesday claimed to have formed a splinter group of “Fresh PDP” in protest against what it described as irregularities in the conduct of the December 9 national convention.

Ologbondiyan said: “Any person who for any selfish reasons resort to the ignoble path of attempting to create disaffection and disunity in our party will be made to face the consequences of his or her actions as provided for in the constitution and extant laws of the land.

“It is strange, unacceptable and outside every known law and regulation that a group of individuals will come together and claim to have formed a splinter group of our great party and even attempt to use our colour, name and logo unauthorised.

“It is therefore imperative to inform all our members that our party is one, indivisible and united PDP and that all organs of the party; the National Executive Committee (NEC), the Board of Trustees (BOT) as well as our state organs are all intact, thus foreclosing any basis for any form of factionalisation whatsoever. A word, they say, is enough for the wise!”.

Also yesterday, the caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) in the House of Representatives and former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) national spokesman Prince Dayo have described those behind the formation of a new faction of the party as “impostors”.

The House caucus, in a statement yesterday by the Deputy Minority Leader, Chukwuka Onyema, said it will never recognise or interact with the new faction, while calling for the investigation of  the activities of those behind it by security agencies.

Adeyeye expressed dismay with the latest factional crisis rocking the umbrella party.

He said the defunct National Caretaker Committee (NCC) handed over a “highly united party” to the new National Working Committee (NWC) led by Prince Uche Secondus.

He said it will be a “big disappointment” if gladiators in the party start another factional crisis expressing confidence that rift will be resolved very soon.

Adeyeye spoke with reporters in Ado-Ekiti after he was welcomed back to his home state by thousands of his supporters after completing his national assignment in the party.
