The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on December 11, 2018 arraigned one Abdulrahman Saki before Justice D.Z. Senchi of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court Jabi, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence to the tune of N11, 000, 000 (Eleven Million Naira) only.
Abdulrahman was alleged to have collected the money as payment for a purported plot of land located at No. 89 SIL Estate Mbora District, Abuja to his victim, without providing the land.
One of the counts reads: โThat you Abdulrahman Saki sometime in July 2016 in Abuja, within the judicial division of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, with intent to defraud, did obtain the sum of N10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira) only from one Mrs. Rita Abiodun Owase under the false pretence of selling plot No. 89 SIL Estate Mbora District, Abuja to her, a fact which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(1) (a) of the Advanced Fee Fraud and other Related Offences Act 2006โ.
He pleaded โnot guiltyโ when the charges were read to him.
In view of his plea, the prosecuting counsel, Nguper Tertsua, asked for a date for the commencement of trial.
Justice Senchi, thereafter, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1million and one surety in like sum.
The case has been adjourned to February 12, 2019 for commencement of trial.
