The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has described free and fair elections as a massive move for democracy.
Osinbajo stated this after voting at his polling unit, Polling Unit 033, VGC, Lekki, at around 10:50 a.m., a few minutes after he arrived in the company of his wife, Oludolapo.
He said, โI am very pleased that we were able to cast our votes, and that everyone has freedom to do so in this polling unit. I think it is very satisfying.
Everybody has a right to vote.
The vote of the Vice President is not any more important than the vote of the security man who watches over us here, and that is the beauty of democracy.
โMy message to Nigerians is that we should ensure that this is completely peaceful and we should exercise our right to vote.
We have the right to determine who our leaders will be, and I think that it is wonderful indeed that we can do so in a free and fair manner.
My message is that let us just ensure that this is as peaceful as possible and encourage others to go out and vote.
โI think that every time we have a chance to vote, every time we get a chance to choose our leaders in a free and fair election, it is a massive move for democracy. Letโs encourage everyone to go out and vote.โ
