Northern governors meet in Kaduna over insecurity, Almajiri

Northern governors are meeting in Kaduna State now over the alarming spate of kidnapping, armed robbery and banditry in Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara States and the Northeastern parts of the country.

Apart from the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, other governors who have arrived the meeting venue are those of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, Katsina State’s Aminu Masari, Plateau State’s Simon Lalong, Benue State Deputy Governor, Benson Abonu.


As of the time of filing this report, other governors were yet to arrive at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, venue of the meeting.

The meeting is expected to deliberate on the prevailing and disturbing insecurity in the region, the high rate the number of out-of-school children, agriculture and so on.

“A new chairman of the Forum may likely emerge today since the current chairman is leaving for the Senate in the 9th National Assembly,” a source said.
