The Lagos State House of Assembly ad hoc Committee probing the purchase 820 buses by former governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday suspended siting indefinitely following a state High Court ruling to stay action on the matter.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Justice Yetunde Adesanya in her ruling on Wednesday urged all parties to maintain status quo, while it adjourned till November 20 for the next hearing.

Addressing newsmen on Wednesday, Chairman of the House ad hoc Committee, Mr Fatal Mojeed, said that the matter was adjourned indefinitely as it had received court’s summon to stay action on the matter.

“We are lawmakers; we are not law-breakers, which was why we had to adjourn the matter indefinitely. The people of Lagos should be expecting more from us,” he said.

Also, Mr Gbolahan Yishawu, a member of the ad hoc committee, said that the House was not trying to witch-hunt anybody or put anybody on the spot for any reason.

Yishawu said that the issue dated back to 2017 when the purchase was included in the appropriation law but was not approved by the House.

Other lawmakers present at the meeting were Mr Gbolahan Yishawu, Mr Bisi Yusuf, Mr Gholahan Yishawu, Mr Rotimi Olowo, Mr Jude Idimogu amd Mr Temitope Adewale.

Others included Mrs Mojisola Merande, Mr Olarenwaju Afinni, Mr Olumo Lukman, Mr Olawale Rauf, Mr Kehinde Joseph, Mrs Mojisola Macaulay.

The assembly had on Sunday through some newspaper advertisements asked the former governor to appear before it by 1.00 p.m. on Wednesday.
