The National President, Naval Officers Wives Association (NOWA), Mrs. Aisha Gambo, recently charged graduands of NOWA Nursery and Primary School, to work harder so they can succeed in their respective endeavours.
She gave this charge to the 115 graduands of NOWA Nursery and Primary School, Mobile Road, Apapa, just as she urged them to remain focused in their studies.
Also at the occasion was Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Jason Gbassa, who alongside NOWA president donated several plastic chairs and tables, as well as a giant size photocopying machine to the school for use.
While 38 pupils graduated from kindergarten 2 to Nursery one, 40 pupils graduated from Nursery 2 to Primary 1 while 37 primary pupils graduated to secondary school.
In her speech, Gambo urged the graduands to continue to work hard and be determined to succeed no matter what as more challenges were bound to come their way in secondary school.
She said: โOur lovely babies proceeding to nursery sections and those that would be moving to primary classes, I trust that I will see you in your next class by September.
โHaving conquered the challenges that came with each of the stages, we are gathered here today to celebrate your achievement.
โI am sure that your parents who have believed in you through every phase of your academics for the past couple of years cannot be prouder.โ She said the academic performance and moral conduct of the pupils have been impressive and encouraging.
โI encourage parents to kindly continue to support us in the training and upbringing of our future generation,โ she added.
Gambo applauded the efforts of all the teachers, saying that they all played a role in shaping the destiny of the children. She specifically recognised Mrs Robert Rosemary and Mrs Adankoโ Rose (kindergarten 2 teachers), Mrs Otejiri Eunice and Miss Okezie Ngozi (Nursery 2 teachers) and Mrs Oyedoyin Titilayo and LED Isaac (Primary 5 teachers).
Also, the NOWA Parents, Teachers Association (PTA) Chairman, Mr Musa Wakawa, urged the graduands to focus on building character and not just intelligence. โYour character is your identity not your intelligence.
You can memorise and comprehend encyclopaedias but without the right character your chances in Iife are limited. โWith the right character there is no limit to what you can do, where you can go and who you can meet in the journey of life,โ Wakawa said.
