The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, pledged to partner with the Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna in the areas of training and cyber security.
He made the pledged when a delegation of the Institute led by the Commandant, Air Vice Marshal Musbau Olamide Olatunji paid a courtesy visit to the EFCC headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.
Highlighting the benefits of the cooperation, the EFCC boss who spoke through the Commandant, EFCC Academy, Ayo Olowonihi, said EFCC has overtime developed expertise which can be beneficial to both government agencies. โAt the EFCC, we have developed expertise in certain areas; the experience we are prepared to share. You want an MoU between us in certain areas, straightaway, the Chairman will direct appropriately; we have a legal department that will look into that and see possible areas of cooperation.โ
He assured that the EFCC will work with AFIT in the area of cyber security investigation. โYou are highlighting cyber security; sitting by me is my colleague, Director of Operations, I think he has covered some grounds in cybercrime investigation, something that we will gladly share with you. The EFCC canโt do the work alone; if we have you on it, if you have us on it, and other government agencies, the work is better done that way.
โSo we are open to sharing our ideas, we are open to share our facilities and I am going to ask for the permission of my boss that the Academy will also visit you to learn particularly about your ride in taking AFIT from that little beginning to where it is today,โ he said
In his remarks, the Commandant of AFIT, Air Vice Marshal Olatunji said they were at the EFCC to find ways of collaborating with the Commission especially in the area of training. โWe know that the EFCC has EFCC Academy and there are programmes that we can run jointly, or we can come and use your facilitiesโ. He said the search for partnership became necessary following the recent upgrade of the Institute to a degree awarding institution with the attendant demand for improved facilities and resources.
