Former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has confirmed that he was summoned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Malami disclosed the development in a statement personally signed and shared on X on Friday, pledging to honour the invitation.
“This is to confirm that I have been invited by the EFCC. As a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation,” he wrote.
Commitment to Transparency
The former minister stressed that accountability and transparency have guided his public service career, adding that he had already informed his family and friends of the EFCC’s request.
“I am willing to honour this invitation without hesitation,” Malami said, noting that honesty and integrity had shaped his leadership approach.
He assured Nigerians that he would provide updates as events unfold, describing transparency as essential in matters of public interest.
EFCC Yet to Disclose Details
As of Friday, the EFCC had not released details of the scope of its inquiry.
However, in an update on Saturday, Malami confirmed that he had honoured the invitation and was later released. He said a new date had been scheduled for further engagement.
“The engagement was successful and I am eventually released while on an appointment for further engagement as the truth relating to the fabricated allegations against me continue to unfold,” he stated.
