Ersin Tatar orders immediate investigation of Glapsides incident

The Presidency Press Office made a written statement and noted that President Ersin Tatar ordered that the matter be investigated immediately after the media coverage of the allegations that two personnel of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus caused damage and flooding in Famagusta Glapsides Beach.

The written statement from the Presidency is as follows:

Following the media coverage of the allegations that two personnel of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus caused damage and flooding in Famagusta Glapsides Beach, President Ersin Tatar ordered that the matter be investigated immediately.

During the meeting between Presidential Special Representative Ergรผn Olgun and UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Cyprus and UN Peacekeeping Mission Chief Colin Stewart, it was requested that the aforementioned incident be investigated seriously and quickly in cooperation with the TRNC authorities.

Colin Stewart, UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Cyprus and UN Peacekeeping Mission Chief, expressed to Special Representative Ergรผn Olgun that he is aware of the seriousness of the incident and that the UN Military Police is ready to do the necessary work in cooperation with our General Directorate of Police.

Our President Ersin Tatar will continue to be a follower of the fulfillment of the issue as a result of an impartial investigation to be carried out in consultation with the TRNC authorities.
