Erhรผrman: “Chaos will be created in all municipalities”ย

CTP Chairman Tufan Erhรผrman and CTP deputies went out and greeted the protesters.

Erhรผrman made a statement and said that chaos will be created not only in the municipalities to be closed but also in all municipalities. Erhรผrman stated that the draft law should be withdrawn from the agenda of the General Assembly to the committee.

Making a call to the public, Erhรผrman said, “Today, they should watch both the Assembly and the street.”

Erhรผrman said, “This is a matter of democracy,” reiterating that if the draft law is implemented, they will bring it to the judiciary.

Erhรผrman also informed that the mayors of the UBP are in the Assembly.

Harmancฤฑ: ” They say, ‘The order has come, we will implement it’. It’s a pity”

Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB) President Mehmet Harmancฤฑ participated in the action held by the unions organized in the municipalities in front of the Assembly, and criticized what was done in order to demand that the (Special) Law on the Unification of Municipalities be drawn up to the committee and rearranged.

Harmancฤฑ pointed out that the citizens who have the right to speak on the draft law were ignored and said, โ€œWas there any meeting? Have the opinions of the people in the municipalities to be merged been taken? Were the words of elected mayors and city council members taken into account? No. Has the words of the citizens living in this region been listened to? No. The order came, they say, we will implement it. It’s a pity,” he said.

Stating that the laws tried to be passed in this way have changed the future and that no one knows what the future will be. Harmancฤฑ said, โ€œThe future of the employees and people should not be that simple or that cheap. This shouldn’t be the way people use democracy. This country doesn’t deserve that much. We will fight until the end,” he said.

Stating that everyone knows that there is a need for reform, but the problem is how the reform should be. Harmancฤฑ likened the current effort to “trying to grow roses in a garden created by combining pomegranate and lettuce gardens with different soil types”.

‘Police barrier’ to municipal vehicles

ร–ztaลŸ: “We wanted to prevent our access to the squares”

3 heavy vehicles belonging to Geรงitkale Municipality were stopped in the morning hours, they were not allowed to enter. As a result of the initiatives, vehicles were allowed to enter Nicosia. The minibus containing the personnel who wanted to participate in the action was seized by the Geรงitkale police in Serdarlฤฑ and taken to the police station.

This information was confirmed to YENฤฐDUZEN by Mayor Hasan ร–ztaลŸ.

ร–ztaลŸ made the following statement on the subject:

My staff and municipal vehicles, which were transported for the protest in front of the Parliament in Nicosia in the morning, were detained by the police. Do you think you can take away our right to protest by blocking our access to the squares? We are so shallow minded. IT IS UNLIKE ANY FEAR THE FEAR OF THE SELLERS OF THEIR PEOPLE.

Sarฤฑรงizmeli: โ€œThe seizure of our vehicles is a disgrace, it is fear, it is malicious intentโ€

Mayor Cemil Sarฤฑรงizmeli pointed out that the minibus belonging to the Mehmetรงik Municipality, which was on its way to Nicosia, was seized by the police on the grounds that it did not have a ‘transport permit’ and said, “The seizure for this reason is a complete disgrace, it is fear, it is an ulterior motive.”

Emphasizing that municipal vehicles are not commercial vehicles, Sarฤฑรงizmeli said, โ€œThe seizure of our vehicles that have been carrying our elderly, students, athletes and all institutions in need for this reason is a complete disgrace, fear, and malicious intent. The price of this will be heavy, this is known like this.โ€

CoลŸkun: “The purpose is clear”

The front of the minibus, which carried about 20 people, who were employees of Dipkarpaz Municipality, to the demonstration in front of the Assembly, was cut off by the police in Serdarlฤฑ. Speaking to Kanal Sim, Dipkarpaz Mayor Suphi CoลŸkun stated that the said employees were taken to the Gecitkale police station.

Stating that the police put forward the reason that the minibus did not have an operating permit. Suphi CoลŸkun stated that such a permission was not needed and that the minibus was a vehicle that carried the personnel of the municipality. CoลŸkun stated that the purpose here is clear.

Suphi CoลŸkun stated that he left the place of action and set out for Geรงitkale Police Station, that they would take his personnel and come to the action on foot if necessary.
