The announcement of the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Dursun Oğuz that the “surplus milk” in the country will be marketed to the Turkey-based supermarket chain A 101, sparked a new debate on milk.

The producer said, “not much; He states that the existing milk will be sold because there is no surplus milk”.

On the other hand, the manufacturer states that there has been a shortage of milk since the beginning of the pandemic, that if the milk is exported, the supply-demand balance will deteriorate and the price of domestic products will increase, so the citizens will turn to imported goods and the factories will go bankrupt.

According to YENİDÜZEN, Livestock Breeders’ Union President Mustafa Naimoğulları said that daily milk production has decreased from 500 tons to 300 tons due to wrong agricultural policies, and if they cannot sell milk at its real price, the production volume at the end of the year will decrease to 100 tons.

Naimoğlulları said, “We will give the milk we produce to this company so that it can be sold at real prices,” adding, “If we do not establish this connection, milk production will decrease to 100 tons at the end of the year. There will be no livestock in the country,” he said.

According to YENİDÜZEN, the Chairman of the Dairy Manufacturers Association Mustafa Başlar stated that even one liter of milk going to export in the current situation may cause problems because there is a gap in the domestic market and said, “We have to produce and fill that gap. Otherwise, this gap will be closed by importing dairy products. Balance needs to be maintained. Otherwise, domestic companies may come to the point of bankruptcy,” he said.

Naimoğlus: The news served by the Ministry is very wrong

Naimoğlulları said that the news provided by the ministry was “very wrong” and said, “We made a request to the company, KOOP-SÜT received a request from the company and we talked to the authorities of A 101 in a hotel. Then they went to meet with the Minister of Agriculture, and the minister turned this meeting into a show. He explained that we will only sell the ‘surplus’ milk to look cute to the domestic manufacturer. But we don’t have a surplus of milk. Production decreased from 500 tons to 300 tons per day.

“We manufacturers have been crushed by domestic manufacturers for years”

“We manufacturers have been crushed by domestic manufacturers for years. Collaborating with the manufacturers, the government bought our milk from the stock market for free, brought the producer to the point of bankruptcy,” said Naimoğlulları, adding, “Due to the wrong policies of the Ministry of Agriculture, the producer should buy one and a half kilograms of feed with one liter of milk, but he can buy one kilogram of feed.”

“We will give the milk we produce to this company so that the milk can be sold at real prices”

Naimoğlulları said, “We will give the milk we produce to this company so that the milk can be sold at real prices,” and said, “If at the end of the day they try to look cute to the manufacturer and cause difficulties, we will take our milk out of SÜTEK and give it to companies like A 101 for 1 or 2 years.”

“If we don’t make this connection, milk production will drop to 100 tons by the end of the year”

Claiming that the manufacturers in the country are trying to monopolize and therefore they are trying to prevent foreign-based investors from coming, Naimoğlulları said, “We will be behind this project until the end. They did not leave a milk market in the country. They did not leave milk in the country. They did not leave animals. Our animals continue to go to slaughterhouses. If we do not make this connection, milk production will fall to 100 tons by the end of the year. There will be no livestock in the country,” he said.

KOOP – MILK did not want to give details, he said “the process continues”

Chairman of KOOP-SÜT Board of Directors, Erismen: “The process has not been concluded, I cannot share details”

On the other hand, KOOP-SÜT Chairman of the Board Mustafa Erişmen said, “A preliminary meeting was held with A-101 officials, but we do not have an agreement on price or process. We haven’t finalized the process yet. That’s why I can’t share details,” he said.

What did the manufacturers say?

Gülgün Dairy Products Director Betmezoğlu: “There has been a milk shortage in the country since the pandemic”

Gülgün Dairy Products Directors Yunus Betmezoğlu stated that it is important which period the planned agreement will cover, and stated that there is a period of decreased milk production, that there has been a shortage of milk in the country since the pandemic, and that the livestock farmer cannot earn money but the prices rise due to the wrong policies implemented by the ministry. he did.

“The aim may be to sink the domestic manufacturer”

“A milk explosion is not expected this year or next year,” said Betmezoğlu, adding, “We do not have a surplus of milk.

Not as full as they do with everything. We don’t have a surplus of milk. The price of milk will increase and it will be reflected in the domestic market. Products from Turkey will be more affordable and the domestic manufacturer will come to the point of collapse. Maybe that’s the purpose,” he said.

Garanti Dairy Products Director Garanti: “Manufacturers go head-to-head with each other due to lack of milk”

Garanti Dairy Products Director Çağkan Garanti, on the other hand, said that the manufacturers are now “on the neck” with each other due to the lack of milk, and said, “There is no milk in the country,” and that the factories are operating at 1/3 lower capacity.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been serious problems with milk”

Stating that there have been serious problems with milk, especially in the domestic market, since the pandemic, Garanti said, “We, as manufacturers, took responsibility during the closure process, we did not spill 1 liter of water, we produced at a loss. But now they’re giving away our milk using KOOP just to please someone?” she asked.

“When there is a problem in the export process, the milk will explode in their hands. Because the manufacturer will not be with them”

He said that if an agreement is reached with A-101, the products coming from Turkey will be more affordable, the domestic manufacturer will have to sell their goods more expensively and the manufacturer will come to the point of bankruptcy. Garanti said, “The milk produced in-house is not enough. If they make this deal, if there is a problem in the export process, the milk will explode in their hands. Because the manufacturer will not be with them.”

Taylan Dairy Products Director Taylan: “Do they have any intention of screwing us up?”

Taylan Dairy Products Director Aslıhan Taylan said, “What will they find and sell? Do they have any intention of sinking us?” by asking, “There is no such excess of milk. All manufacturers are in demand for milk,” he said.

“We will close one by one, we will not be able to produce in this country”

Emphasizing that the current milk is not enough for the domestic market, Taylan said, “What will we produce if raw materials are not given to us? Why did we set up these factories? We will close one by one, we will not be able to produce in this country. Citizens will have to consume products from abroad,” he said.

Head of Dairy Manufacturers Association Başlar: “The factories are working with 40 to 50 percent efficiency from the lack of milk”

Mustafa Başlar, Director of Başlar Dairy Factory and Chairman of the Dairy Manufacturers Association, stated that there is no excess milk at the moment and that the factories are operating at 40 to 50 percent efficiency.

“It’s not a big deal, but we don’t understand why they inflated it and served it”

Stating that 20 tons of long-lasting milk per day is requested within the scope of the agreement aimed to be reached with A-101, Başlar said, “It is not an exaggeration, but we do not understand why they inflated and served it. It is purely for advertising purposes,” he said.

“Of course, exports must be made, but the balance must be maintained. Otherwise, domestic companies may come to the point of bankruptcy.”

Stating that even one liter of milk going to export can cause problems in the current situation, because there is a gap in the domestic market, Başlar said, “We have to produce and fill that gap. Otherwise, this gap will be closed by importing dairy products. It is not attractive for us to export the product that we cannot put on the market. Of course, exports must be made, but the balance must be maintained. Otherwise, domestic companies may come to the point of bankruptcy,” he said.
