Osun Governor Adeleke Defects to Accord Party, Declares Bid for Re-Election

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has formally joined the Accord Party, announcing the move as his new political platform to seek re-election in August 2026.

Adeleke revealed his decision in a post on his verified X account on Tuesday, just days after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor, who won the Osun governorship under the PDP in 2022, said his defection marks a fresh chapter in his political journey as he prepares for the upcoming polls.

His departure from the PDP comes amid ongoing internal crises within the party, which has seen several defections across the country following the 2023 general elections.

Adeleke’s switch to Accord makes him the party’s most high-profile figure ahead of next year’s governorship race, setting the stage for a potentially fierce contest in Osun State.
