Rescue Efforts Commendable, But Vigilance Must Continue –

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has commended security agencies for their role in the rescue of abducted victims in recent attacks, while warning against complacency in safeguarding schools and communities.

Obi described as “refreshing” the successful rescue of 38 victims from the Eruku Church attack in Kwara State and the escape of about 50 students from a Catholic private school in Niger State. He praised the coordinated efforts of security operatives and all those involved in the operations.

Despite the positive outcome, Obi stressed that the situation remains deeply agonising for families whose children are yet to be reunited with them. He urged authorities to sustain momentum until every victim is safely returned home.

“The commendable rescue efforts must not lead to relaxation,” Obi cautioned. “There is a pressing need for both security agencies and school authorities nationwide to remain proactive and ensure adequate measures are in place to frustrate criminal plans.”

His remarks come amid growing concerns over the rising spate of abductions targeting schools and places of worship, with calls for stronger community vigilance and improved intelligence gathering to prevent future incidents.
