Peter Obi Urges Media to Champion National Renewal at Editors’ Forum

Abuja, Nigeria – November 13, 2025 – In a stirring address to the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Peter Obi called on media professionals to lead the charge in restoring Nigeria’s dignity. Speaking on the theme “Reclaiming Our Nation’s Dignity,” Obi decried the erosion of national values and the global perception of Nigeria as a nation in decline.

He emphasized that the country’s tarnished image stems not from foreign criticism but from internal failures—corruption, insecurity, and a culture of impunity. Obi challenged editors to become custodians of truth and conscience, resisting political manipulation and promoting civic responsibility.

“Our dignity will not be restored by propaganda,” he said, “but by confronting the truth and rebuilding our moral foundation.”

Obi’s speech was a call to conscience, urging the media to use its platform to foster ethical leadership, national unity, and democratic accountability.
