Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has joined members of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha and well-wishers across Nigeria in celebrating the 72nd birthday of Archbishop Valerian Maduka Okeke, describing him as a spiritual leader whose life exemplifies humility, service, and unwavering faith.

In a statement issued Monday, Obi praised the Archbishop’s enduring commitment to the spiritual, educational, and moral development of the faithful, noting that his leadership has inspired generations to embrace virtue, discipline, and compassion.

“Your Grace’s pastoral vision has brought renewal to the Church and society at large,” Obi said. “From investments in human capital to consistent advocacy for moral regeneration, you continue to demonstrate that true leadership is rooted in service and anchored in faith.”

Obi, a devout Catholic and native of Anambra State, expressed gratitude for Archbishop Okeke’s ministry and prayed for continued health, wisdom, and grace as he continues to shepherd the people of God.

The Archbishop, who has led the Onitsha Archdiocese since 2003, is widely respected for his contributions to education, youth empowerment, and interfaith dialogue. His birthday celebration drew tributes from clergy, religious leaders, and lay faithful across the country.

“May your years ahead be even more fruitful and impactful,” Obi concluded.
