Haaland Brace Sends Manchester City Top with 2–0 Win Over Everton

Haaland broke the deadlock in the 58th minute

Erling Haaland continued his relentless scoring form on Saturday, netting twice in five second-half minutes to fire Manchester City to a 2–0 victory over Everton and provisionally lift the champions to the top of the Premier League table.

The Norwegian striker, who has now scored in 11 consecutive matches for club and country, took his season tally to 23 goals with a clinical double at the Etihad Stadium. His efforts ensured City moved to 16 points from eight games, ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool, who are set to play on Sunday. Everton, meanwhile, slipped to tenth with 11 points.

After a goalless first half in which Everton held firm, Haaland broke the deadlock in the 58th minute. Rising above the defence, he met Nico O’Reilly’s pinpoint cross from the left with a powerful header to put City ahead.

Just five minutes later, the 25-year-old doubled the lead. Latching onto a low delivery from Savinho, Haaland unleashed a fierce left-footed strike from the centre of the box. The shot took a slight deflection off James Tarkowski, wrong-footing goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and sealing the result for Pep Guardiola’s side.
