In a decisive week-long operation, combined forces of Operation Hadin Kai eliminated 24 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists across multiple strongholds in Nigeria’s Northeast region.

The coordinated military offensive, conducted between July 4-9, targeted insurgent enclaves in Sambisa Forest, the Timbuktu Triangle, and Mandara Mountains, dealing a significant blow to terrorist operations in the area.

According to a statement by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai, the intelligence-driven operations involved ground troops, air support, and collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members. Among those killed were five key logistics suppliers ambushed during night operations, severely disrupting the terrorists’ supply chain.

The military recovered a substantial cache of weapons and equipment, including six AK-47 rifles, ammunition, motorcycles, bicycles, and terrorist uniforms. Troops also destroyed multiple insurgent camps and life-support structures during clearance operations in Bula Marwa and other identified hideouts.

Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, emphasized that the successful operations demonstrated the effectiveness of joint military-civilian efforts in counterterrorism. “These operations have placed terrorists on the back foot, creating safer conditions for the return of normalcy in the Northeast,” he stated.

The offensive included several strategic engagements:

  • A July 4 ambush at Platari eliminated 3 terrorists moving from Sambisa Forest
  • Night operations in Kawuri neutralized 2 logistics suppliers
  • Fighting patrols in Leno Kura and Pambula village resulted in 4 additional terrorist casualties
  • Clearance operations in Bula Marwa and Tangalanga destroyed insurgent camps and recovered significant weapons

Captain Kovangiya confirmed that the sustained military pressure has forced surviving terrorists to flee with gunshot wounds, while the complete destruction of their support systems has significantly degraded their operational capacity. The success marks a critical step in ongoing efforts to restore security and enable socioeconomic recovery in the conflict-affected region.
