Bandits have abducted over 26 travelers along the Gusau-Sokoto highway in Zamfara State. The incident occurred near Kwaren Kirya village under Maru Local Government Area. The victims were taken from a Toyota 18-seater bus and a Volkswagen golf vehicle after the bandits blocked the road.

According to a resident who preferred anonymity for security reasons, the frequency of these incidents is concerning, with bandits now blocking the road daily. There’s particular worry about a village called Balge along the highway, suspected to harbor bandits.

The source urged the government to deploy security outposts in the area to curb criminal activities, highlighting that a significant portion of Balge’s population consists of suspected bandits.

As of now, the police authorities in the state have not issued any statement regarding the recent abduction.
