British Vogue appoints Chioma Nnadi head of editorial content

Chioma Nnadi has been appointed as British Vogue’s Head of Editorial Content.

Chioma, who is of Nigerian and Swiss-German descent, will take over from Edward Enninful.

Edward, a British stylist of Ghanaian heritage, announced his retirement as the magazine’s first male and first black editor in June.

Chioma, 44, will be known as Head of Editorial Content rather than Editor-in-Chief.

Her recent feat makes her the first black woman to run the fashion publication.

An excited Chioma took to her Instagram handle on Monday, saying she is “honoured” over her latest appointment.

“I’m so thrilled to announce that I’m the new head of editorial content for @britishvogue. Huge thanks to Anna Wintour, @edward_enninful, and Roger Lynch for giving me this opportunity. I’m truly honored and so excited to be coming home. Stay tuned! And thank you @stefanruizphoto for the photo,” she wrote.

Fashion guru Anna Wintour said London-born Nnadi had been able to connect the magazine with a digital audience and extend its reach across various platforms.

She will assume her post on October 9, 2023.

She was born to a Swiss-German mother and a Nigerian father who came to the UK in the 1960s.
