The suspect Metin Turunç who was arrested on charges of “Battering the Police”, “Dismissed from His Duty”, “Battery”, “Drunkenness”, “Inconvenience” and “Inappropriate Attitude” and “Insulting”, was brought before the court.
Police officer Soner Şaban, who reported the incident in the court, said that the 40-year-old suspect MT, who was found to be intoxicated, went to Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital – Emergency Department said that he caused discomfort.
Explaining that the suspect battered 4 police officers who went to warn him and banned him from duty, Şaban said that he also battered 29-year-old MAT, the hospital security guard, who wanted to intervene in the incident.
The police stated that the suspect was arrested due to his red-handed state.
The police said that the suspect has a previous criminal record for 12 similar crimes, and that he still has guarantees in 2022 for the crimes of “Missing the Police and Dismissing the Police”.
The police stated that the investigation was continuing and demanded that the suspect be detained for three days.
Evaluating the testimony given in his presence, Judge Nil Elodie Çeliker ordered the suspect to be detained for 3 days.
